Founder and visionary leader Dr. Merv Mattair launched a mission in 2009 to restore the birthright of all young men while empowering them to live to their full potential. Building on his literary success, Word to My Kings and Queens, this passionate youth advocate pioneered the BTK strategy around the critical importance of role models and parental involvement. Together with partners from various professions, including healthcare, law enforcement, education, and ministry, Mattair passionately applies one philosophy to his daily practice and that is “Every Child Matters.” With that in mind, the 12 Guiding Principles were established to serve as a road map to help guide Boyz to Kings’ participants on their path to success

Respecting Self
We understand that self-respect is the foundation for all success. By valuing ourselves, we set a standard for how we want to be treated, allowing us to achieve our full potential.
Reading Literature
Through the power of reading, we open doors to new perspectives, knowledge, and inspiration. Literature enriches our minds and empowers us to grow into well-rounded individuals.
Improving Our Appearance
How we present ourselves speaks volumes before we even say a word. We take pride in our appearance because it reflects our commitment to excellence and self-discipline.
Honoring Family
Family is the cornerstone of our community. We honor our families by upholding their values, respecting their sacrifices, and striving to make them proud in all that we do.
Accepting Accountability
Taking responsibility for our actions is key to growth. We face challenges head-on, learn from mistakes, and embrace accountability as part of our journey toward maturity.

Respecting Our Queens/Kings
We recognize the strength, wisdom, and importance of the women/men in our lives. By respecting our queens/kings, we uplift and honor their invaluable role in shaping our community.

Physical health is essential for a strong body and mind. We commit to staying active and fit, understanding that it contributes to both our physical and mental well-being.
Making Positive Decisions
Our choices define us. We aim to make decisions that positively impact our lives and those around us, always guided by integrity and wisdom.
Respecting Our Elders
Elders are our link to the past and the keepers of wisdom. We show our respect by listening to their guidance and appreciating the lessons they pass down to us.

Praying Internally
Inner peace and spiritual growth come from within. We practice internal prayer as a way to connect with our higher purpose, seeking guidance, strength, and clarity.
Boyz to Kings is a parent-led organization and our mission is to empower each other with effective parenting skills, through relevant and engaging workshop topics, so that we can become confident role models in our children’s lives. Our monthly required parent huddle/workshop gets the parents involved, keeps them with some skin in the game and proves to be just as rewarding as a youth session. To that end, our informative and practical workshops include several topics, however the bold stance that the Boyz to kings Inc team take with each parent daily is highly essential. We stand together and declare “Not This One”, not my child.
Inside Boyz to Kings, we feed our Young men something EVERY NIGHT, 4 nights a week.
